This policy explains exactly what happens to your information when you use the Orbit job application tracker, the Orbit Autofill Chrome extension, and this website. The short version: your job search data never leaves your device. The longer version, including the advertising and analytics services we use, is below.
Orbit ("we", "us", "our") is a free job application tracker operated by Amcon Ceylon, a digital product studio based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This policy covers the website at joborbit.online, the web application at joborbit.online/app.html, and the Orbit Autofill browser extension. If you have questions about anything here, our contact page tells you how to reach a human.
This is the most important section of this policy, so we will be blunt about it. Orbit has no user accounts, no login, and no database. Every application you add — company names, job titles, salary figures, interview dates, personal notes about recruiters — is written to your own browser's localStorage and stays there. It is never transmitted to us, because there is no server of ours for it to be transmitted to. We physically cannot read your job search.
Practical consequences you should understand:
The extension stores your autofill profile — name, email, phone, location, links, salary expectation, notice period, work authorization and your default cover note — using Chrome's local extension storage on your own machine. It also stores the list of jobs you log. Neither is uploaded anywhere. The extension makes no network requests of its own, contains no analytics, and requires no account.
It requests three permissions, each for a narrow purpose: storage saves your profile locally; activeTab and scripting let it read and fill the page you are currently looking at, and only at the moment you click a button. It does not run in the background, does not monitor your browsing, and does not read pages you have not asked it to act on. When you click "Send all to Orbit tracker", your logged list is passed to joborbit.online through your own browser's address bar and imported locally — it still never touches a server.
This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which guides they read, and which pages are broken. This is aggregate, statistical information: page addresses, approximate geographic region (usually country or city level), device and browser type, referring site, and time on page. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage. We do not use Analytics to build profiles of individuals, and we never connect analytics data to anything you type into the tracker — which, as established above, we cannot see in the first place.
You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
This website is free to use and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service, to display ads on our pages. We also display our own house banners promoting Amcon Ceylon and related services; those are clearly ours and are marked as sponsored links.

Advertising is served on our content pages. Advertisers do not receive your Orbit board data, your extension profile, or anything else you type into the tracker.
We use a small number of cookies and similar storage technologies: analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, advertising cookies set by Google and its partners, and local storage keys used by the tracker itself to remember your applications and your light/dark theme preference. The theme and application keys are functional, not tracking — they exist solely to make the app work. Our cookie policy lists these in detail and explains how to block or clear each type.
Where the GDPR applies, our lawful basis for analytics and advertising is your consent, collected through the consent message displayed on your first visit by Google's certified Consent Management Platform, and legitimate interest for basic security and abuse prevention. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal data we hold, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Because your tracker data lives only on your device, a deletion request for it is something you can carry out yourself instantly by clearing site data — but if you want confirmation of what analytics data exists, contact us and we will help.
Google may process advertising and analytics data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States, under its own standard contractual clauses and certifications. Details are available in Google's privacy policy.
We do not sell personal information in the conventional sense, and we hold no personal information about you on any server we control. Advertising cookies served by third parties may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CCPA/CPRA. You can exercise your choice by opting out of personalised ads at the links in the advertising section above, or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.
Orbit is intended for people old enough to be seeking employment and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, contact us and we will address it.
We retain nothing about your job search, so there is nothing for us to delete. Analytics data is retained by Google according to our configured retention window and then deleted automatically. To erase your tracker data, use your browser's "clear site data" for joborbit.online, or use the reset control inside the app. To erase your extension profile, remove the extension from chrome://extensions or clear its storage from the options page.
Our guides and banners link to external sites, including Amcon Ceylon, Fiverr, and job-related resources. Once you follow one of those links you are subject to that site's own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for.
This site is served over HTTPS. Because we hold no user data on a server, there is no user database to breach — an architectural choice that is, deliberately, our strongest privacy feature. The trade-off is that the security of your data depends on the security of your own device.
If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will also be noted on the homepage. Continuing to use Orbit after a change means you accept the revised policy.
